What did you do on your anniversary?
Here in Ojai, we go to the range. After 28 years
of marriage, we enjoy the same stuff, and today
that was sending some lead down range. Of course after
shooting we attended the lavender festival to buy and shop for
frilly things, and ended the day with dinner at Suzanne's in Ojai.
Dee is an excellent shot--just in case I can't get
to the rifle. She put 15 rounds inside the 10 ring at
100 yards and hit the gong at 300 yards several times--just like Ma' Kettle.
I love you babe.

ISS last night

I use software to determine where certain objects are at night. Last night at 9:38 PM the International Space Station was scheduled for a pass over my observatory. I spent the afternoon setting up the big 16" dob and my equipment. Like clockwork, the ISS appeared in the WNW sky exactly as scheduled. Using a 15mm lense I tracked the ISS all the way through the sky up to about 60 degress when it disappeared from view. I could see the large solar panels on the craft glowing orange from the reflection of the sun. Beautiful. If the sky clears I have two more chances to view ISS today and tomorrow. This time I plan to try a video capture of the craft--a very diffcult thing to do. Right now the sky is cloudy (5pm), Im hoping it clears. Indian Wells, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and parts nearby were nice this weekend. The weather was good, the accomodations were nice, and the company was the best.

Cozmo the Cat

Cozmo is now 15 years old, I think he's used about 8 of his nine lives. He sleeps all day and hunts all night--every night. Its amazing that just a couple years ago he broke his rear leg--he could hardly walk. Over time he healed, started his daily/nightly routine and is back in the business of catching little vermin. We wish he would leave them outside though. How about this pic on the left--yes that is a bird standing next to him--he usually eats them.

This is M 3 or NGC 5272, a ball of half a million stars older than the Sun lies over 30,000 light-years away in our Milky Way Galaxy.April 13 & 16, 2010. Canon Power Shot S90

Just last week I picked up a new camera that I really like. Following the recommendation of Ken Rockwell, I bought the Canon PowerShot S90. This is a great camera with10mp and all the bells and whistles of a much larger DSLR. Here's a few shots to enjoy. I bought my daughter a very nice Nikon DSLR last year. I have used from time to time until now. It too is a great camera, but it's large and bulky unlike the S90. This little camera can do nearly everything a larger DSLR can do and I can carry it in my pocket--sweet.

Took a little ride up 33 today with Dee. The weather was fantastic. We stopped just above the Sespe trailhead and captured this nice image of the mounatins.
